A truly elaborate prank at a mall in Florida had Lil Durk fans convinced the 7220 artist had stopped off for some impromptu shopping.

As King Cid subscribers already know, the stunt was carried out with the assistance of Shmurkio, who’s amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across Instagram and TikTok

“Today we pulling off a crazy stunt, man. I ain’t gonna lie,” Cid said in a YouTube upload (see above) chronicling the prank. “We had to sell this one.” And sell this one, they did.

In short, Cid had planned a meet-and-greet with fans at the mall, with Shmurkio showing up as a surprise. Enlisted for the hilarity were a Lamborghini, a security team, faux paparazzi, imitation tattoos, and more. “We gon’ have Lil Durk—a big rapper, somebody that everybody loves—pull up to the mall. And I’mma let him steal the show, man.”

The 15-minute video above gives viewers an inside look at the extensive set-up process for the stunt, with heightened attention placed on the fake tattoo process. Once the big moment arrives, the show is indeed stolen by the fake Durk.

The real Lil Durk, meanwhile, is fresh off a guest appearance on Coi Leray’s debut album Trendsetter, not to mention the recent release of his Future-featuring “Petty Too” video. In March, 7220 became Durk’s first solo No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

As for the likelihood of additional fakes, the often bankable look-alike industry is sure to continue for the foreseeable future. This article, however, was indeed written by the real Trace. Although, isn’t that exactly what the fake Trace would say?
