Florida rapper SpotemGottem has been hospitalized after he was a victim of a drive-by shooting on Friday.

Per his legal counsel, “SpotemGottem was the victim of a drive-by shooting this morning, leaving the studio.” 

TMZ reports that law enforcement sources indicate the shooting took place around 3 a.m. local time on Friday. Another car pulled up alongside his and opened fired. SpottemGottem suffered gunshot wounds to both legs, while the driver was shot in the hip. The car he was riding in was reportedly shot at least 22 times on the driver’s side. 

The rapper is in a stable condition, and is expected to make a full recovery, per his manager. The rapper’s legal counsel also told Complex he is “out of surgery. He is in stable condition.”

Best known for his booming track “Beat Box,” which was followed by a series of remixes including one from DaBaby, the rapper was thrust into the spotlight earlier this year thanks to a TikTok trend. The “Junebug Challenge” was one of the many dance crazes to sweep the social video app, with people performing the titular dance to “Beat Box.” Everyone from Lil Baby to Kevin Hart got involved.

The rapper was arrested in July on Felony gun charges. He was taken into custody at a hotel in Aventura, Florida, where officers reportedly found him lying in bed next to an AK-47. Authorities had executed on a warrant for his arrest in connection with an incident in Miami Beach, during which he allegedly pulled a gun on a parking garage attendant.
