Ahead of the Sept. 30 release of his album and corresponding animated Netflix special Entergalactic, Kid Cudi has unleashed the Ty Dolla Sign collaboration “Willing to Trust.”
Entergalactic will tell the story of a young artist called Jabari (voiced by Cudi) figuring out how to manage his success and love life. Ty Dolla Sign is also in the voice cast, as are Jaden Smith, Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, 070 Shake, Teyana Taylor, Macaulay Culkin. Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, Arturo Castro, and Keith David.
Asked on Thursday why he “thought a show would complement the music,” Cudi told Carl Lamarre in Billboard, “I always wanted to do something visual accompanying an album, but so many people have tried that. I just wanted to figure out another approach that hadn’t been done before. With this, the process was really simple. I masterminded this whole thing and said, ‘Okay, it’s best if I make the music first and then we go in and write the scripts.’”
The 38-year-old hip-hop veteran also shared this week that he’s officially started penning his memoir. “Its comin together really well,” he tweeted. “Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.”
