Kanye West is pushing back against “dismissive” claims concerning his mental health.

On Thursday afternoon, the multi-hyphenate took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a comment that declared he was no longer taking psychiatric medication: “Man’s off the meds,” the user wrote, before referencing the upcoming Donda 2 project. “Album gonna go crazy.”

Kanye, who revealed his bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2017, expressed his objections to these kinds of statements.

“The world is racist, sexist, homophobic, and crazy phobic at our core,” he wrote in the caption. “Its [sic] cheap and dismissive to say I’m off my meds anytime I speak up. Phobia in this sense doesn’t mean being afraid of, it means not giving power to. Lets [sic] be more conscious and not write each other off so easily.”

The user left the comment under Ye’s previous post, in which he addressed Billie Eilish’s perceived diss toward Travis Scott. During a recent live performance, the Happier Than Ever artist realized one of the audience members couldn’t breathe. Eilish then stopped the show so someone could get the fan an inhaler.

“I wait for people to be OK until I keep going,” Eilish said.

Kanye, and some others, believed Eilish’s comment was a reference to the deadly events at Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Festival.

“Come on Billie we love you. Please apologize to Trav and to the families of the people who lost their lives. No one intended this to happen,” Kanye wrote on Instagram. “Trav didn’t have any idea of what was happening when he was on stage and was very hurt by what happened, and yes Trav will be with me at Coachella, but now I need Billie to apologize before I perform.”

Eilish caught wind of Ye’s post and responded, “Literally never said a thing about travis. Was just helping a fan.”
