Saturday Night Live is back.

The NBC sketch show kicked off its 47th season this week with musical guest Kacey Musgraves, who made her SNL debut in 2018 shortly before the release of her Golden Hour project. This time around, Musgraves returned to Studio 8H to promote her newly released album, Star-Crossed, performing singles “Justified” and “Camera Roll.”

You can watch Musgraves’ SNL performances in the videos above and below.

Star-Crossed was released on Sept. 10, and was accompanied by a film. The 15-track project—which included contributions from Ian Fitchuk, Daniel Tashian, and Violeta Parra—explored Musgraves’ mental state following her divorce from Ruston Kelly, and how the global pandemic exacerbated her anxiety.

“It’s daunting to put your emotions about something really personal on display,” she told Elle about Star-Crossed earlier this year. “I haven’t spoken much about this chapter, and I don’t feel like I owe that to anyone, but I owe it to myself as a creator to flesh out all these emotions that I’ve felt, and I do that through song. It would be strange if I didn’t acknowledge what happened in my life creatively, but it is scary to be like, ‘I’m about to share my most personal thoughts about me, about this other person, about a union that I had with someone.’ I mean, I’m not a ruthless person. I care about other people’s feelings. So it’s kind of scary.”

SNL will return next week with first-time host Kim Kardashian and musical guest Halsey.
