Fake Drake FaceTimes Real Drake, Congratulates Him on ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ Release

Izzy Drake—dubbed Fake Drake by many—took to Instagram on Friday to share a clip of him FaceTiming the real Drake and alluding to a collaboration.

Everyone is celebrating Drake Day, including his lookalike Izzy Drake.

Also nicknamed Fake Drake, Izzy took to Instagram on Friday to share a clip of him FaceTiming with the real Drizzy.

“I called @champagnepapi to congratulate him on his new album and to confirm the feature,” he wrote. From the video, it seems that the two have also collaborated on a song.

“Yo, that album was hard, bro. Congratulations on the drop,” Izzy said to Drake of his new offering, Honestly, Nevermind. “It’s an OVO ting,” to which Drake says, “Much love.”

Izzy then asks, “Are we still dropping?” Drake responds, “Yes sir.”

Izzy’s career as Drake’s doppelgänger jump-started in October 2021 when he was seen at Club LIV in Miami wearing an OVO tracksuit. Justin LaBoy and Tory Lanez posted Izzy to their Instagram Stories that night, with Lanez sharing a video of Izzy with Lil Wayne. DJ Akademiks also shared videos, and Izzy took off from there.

“Every time I go out, I get swarmed by people,” Izzy told Complex in May. “People be like, ‘Yo, can I get a video? Can I get a photo?’ It got to be really crazy. In Miami especially, I have to walk around with security.”

He said he’s been posted to Akademiks’ socials around 15 times, and that he charges anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000 for public appearances. “I’ve been booked at clubs, venues, and all that. I perform Drake’s songs in the club, and I have a set list that I know how to perform,” he said. “So I’ll give them options and they’ll pick the packages they want. Then I’ll show up.”
