Thanks to some Toronto Raptors game footage, Drake is the subject of a new meme that should be virtually everywhere by day’s end.
In short, the latest instance of a Drizzy meme being born stems from live broadcast footage via Tuesday night’s Raptors and Miami Heat game (see above) that inadvertently captured the Certified Lover Boy artist in the middle of some seemingly serious scrolling.
Naturally, fans were quick to imagine what, exactly, Drake was looking at on his phone at the time. Others promptly used the opportunity to share some jokes with the world.
The 6 God is fresh off a feature on Gunna’s Metro Boomin-produced “P Power,” a collab that was temporarily not included as part of the full DS4Ever experience. Last year, meanwhile, saw the release of Certified Lover Boy, Drake’s sixth studio album featuring the Right Said Fred-interpolating “Way 2 Sexy.”
Also in 2021, Drake and the artist formerly known as Kanye West publicly set aside their differences for the Amazon Prime-streamed Free Larry Hoover event. As revealed in a subsequent Complex interview featuring insight from PHNTM founder and Ye’s Free Larry Hoover production lead Gabe Fraboni, the cinematic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum experience was put together in just 18 days.
As for that new meme, another theory worth playfully positing is that Drake could have simply been scrolling through this writer’s endless requests for a “Summer Games” sequel. At any rate, see how the meme-ing is shaping up below.
