Drake is publicly feuding with YouTuber and music critic Anthony Fantano after he shared a video that showed fake messages between the two of them.
The drama between the two was made public afterΒ Fantano, who hosts the music reviewing YouTube channel The Needle Drop, shared a video in which he spoke about Drizzy DMing him a vegan cookie recipe. βI know we donβt really see eye-to-eye about music and that you are not the biggest fan of most of my albums,β readΒ the fake messages, which Fantano detailed in a clip seen below.Β "But it is what it is, you know. Can always hope youβll like the next one! But Iβm not messaging you about your videos. Iβm actually messaging you cause I found a really great vegan cookie recipe Iβd love you to try!β
Not long after the video went live, Drizzy responded by sharing a screenshot of messages he sent to Fantano. Needless to say, they did not contain a vegan cookies recipe, but an attack on the YouTube criticβs character.
βYour existence is a light 1. And the 1 is cause you are alive,β wrote Drizzy, in a reference to Fantanoβs scoring system out of ten. βAnd cause you somehow wifed a Black girl. Iβm feeling a light to decent 1 on your existence.β The timing of the messages would imply that Fantano made the βDrake Slid Into My DMsβ video after Drizzy messaged him, which in turn prompted the OVO rapper to share the real one-way conversation.
While Fantano left Drake on read, he did choose to respond in an Instagram Live stream and a series of tweets.Β
βEssentially what happened, for reasons unknown to me, Drake was in his feelings,β he said during the stream. βThatβs his whole thing, being in his feelings. His brand, you could say. He was in his feelings on Wednesday night, very late into the evening. β¦Β I caught a DM request from Champagne Papi himself, and I saw the DM request and I looked at it and yeah, it was a bit of a diss. A salty little DM, quite sad and unfortunate.β
During the stream, he accused Drake of being βobsessedβ with him for being familiar with his ratings system, and suggested the quality of his insults were subpar so he should get a ghostwriter next time. βIf I wanted a good insult in my inbox, he wouldβve had to pay someone else to come in and do it,β he said. βIβm literally just giving my opinions on music.β
Meanwhile on Twitter, he once again reiterated that he essentially got Drake to leak his own DMs.
βThat bitch shared the salty ass DM to over 100 million people,β he wrote.
Drake has yet to reply to Fantanoβs latest comments.
