Silk Sonic’s debut album will arrive sooner than expected.

The duo—made up of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak—took to social media on Friday to announce the official Nov. 12 release date for the effort, titled An Evening with Silk Sonic. In an interview with Rolling Stone this summer, the artists revealed their plans to push the record to early 2022, as they were still in “touch-up mode.”

“We’ve got the bones of most of the album, so it’s really about touching up parts that need a little more...grease,” Mars said.

“Which could mean redoing the song from scratch!” .Paak jokingly added. “Being here for another three years!”

Thankfully for fans, Silk Sonic managed to make a lot of progress over the last couple of months—so much so they decided to push up the release date to November.

The album will arrive about nine months after Mars and .Paak unveiled Silk Sonic and delivered their first single “Leave the Door Open.” The duo performed the track at the Grammy Awards in March, and came through with their second single “Skate” more than four months later.

Mars and .Paak described Silk Sonic as a passion project that began picking up steam during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

“I’m not sure we would have done it if it wasn’t for the pandemic,” .Paak told Rolling Stone. “It was tragic for so many people, but Bruno would have probably been on the road, me too — but we had to be here (in the recording studio) … So we’d just come here every night, have a drink, and we play what we love.”

Silk Sonic have remained pretty tight-lipped about what their debut album will offer, as they’ve yet to reveal a tracklist or any featured artists—other than Bootsy Collins, who serves as the project’s “special guest host.”

An Evening with Silk Sonic is available now for pre-order.
