In an extensive message shared with fans, Britney Spears detailed the alleged abuse she faced during her conservatorship, while also revealing that she had a “secret relationship.”

In the since-deleted clip, per Billboard, Spears expressed her belief that the whole situation involving Jamie Spears’ conservatorship over her was a “set up.” She described how her much-publicized involuntary hospitalization in 2008 came as a shock to her, and she had no drugs or alcohol in her system at the time she was held down on a gurney as “over 200 paparazzi” watched on.

“I know now it was all premeditated,” she said. “A woman introduced the idea [of a conservatorship] to my dad, and my mom actually helped him follow through and made it all happen. It was all basically set up. There was no drugs in my system, no alcohol, nothing. It was pure abuse. And I haven’t even really shared half of it.”

Spears explained that her 70-year-old father “loved to control everything I did,” and alleged that he was “really abusive” to her brother when he was younger, too. Not long after her hospitalization, she was thrust back into the spotlight and continued to work. But at this point, Spears was “feeling so demoralized” and was essentially just doing everything she was told by her father and his team. “I was told I was fat every day,” she added. Every meal she ate was monitored, and she was apparently forced to lie about going to a rehab “facility” around 2019.

Britney recalled doing lengthy Las Vegas residency during the conservatorship, a time in which she recalled acting like a “robot.” “My performances, I know, were horrible,” she added. “Like I even wore wigs, and other dancers were doing all these nice sexy head flip turns, and I had conditioner treatment in my hair and these little caps over my head and just during the whole show getting conditioner treatments just with wigs on because I was just like a robot.”

“Honestly, I didn’t give a fuck anymore because I couldn’t go where I wanted to go. I couldn’t have the nannies that I wanted to have. I couldn’t have cash,” Spears added.

Thankfully, her 13-year conservatorship was officially terminated last year, freeing her from her father’s control. She’s since gotten married to Sam Asghari, but in her message, Spears revealed that at one point she had a “secret relationship” in which she spoke with an unidentified individual about escaping the country together.

“I was talking to a guy, and he wanted to just leave the country with me,” she said, per Rolling Stone. “We had it all set up to just leave, and it was a secret relationship. And I said my biggest fear was, ‘What would my dad do, if I did do something wrong?’ What if I left the country? I feel like they would lock me up or something or really hurt me.”

Shortly after the message was shared, Spears’ mother, Lynne Spears, responded in a post on Instagram. “Britney, your whole life I have tried my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I have tried my best to help you out of hardships!” wrote Lynne, who Britney accused of “doing nothing” to help her during the conservatorship. “I have never and will never turn my back on you! Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless! I have tried everything. I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only , eye to eye, in private.”
