Following a string of collaborations like 2018’s Drake-featuring “Look Alive” and 2020’s “No Chorus Pt. 12,” Memphis artists BlocBoy JB and Tay Keith join forces for their new joint mixtape Bacc 2 da Bloc.
The 15-track project features the previously released singles “Home Alone,” “Day Day N Craig,” and “M.E.M 2 Jacksonville” with SpotemGottem, as well as new guest appearances from Pooh Shiesty (“Addiction”), EST Gee (“Smoke”), and Co Cash (“Devin Booker”).
Also arriving today is the official video for “Smoke.” Check out the GTA-influenced, Diesel Filmz-directed visual below.
The tape arrives on the heels of BlocBoy’s new doc titled Blocumentary, which includes appearances from Yo Gotti and more.
“I feel like this is me, back to the old me,” he said in a preview clip from Blocumentary. “Back to the basics. The majority of the songs were done in Memphis and all of them were produced by Tay Keith.”
Back in October, Keith became an honorary professor at his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State University. The Grammy-nominated producer took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement, posting photos of himself in a recording studio speaking with young people and holding his honorary certificate.
“From the days I was struggling in class failing trying to get candidacy for the college of recording industry to coming back and becoming a honorary professor show you that hard work with passion pay off,” he captioned the post. “S/O my alma mater acknowledging me and my team and letting me come educate and motivate the youngins who in the same shoes i was in just a few years ago. Respect always been some thats earned and it aint given and real ones always win in the end.”
