Stevie Wonder, Ronald Isley, Chaka Khan, and Jennifer Hudson are some of the singers slated to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin at the legend's funeral next week. Franklin died last Thursday at age 76.
Also scheduled to perform are Fantasia, Faith Hill, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, the Clark Sisters, Jennifer Holliday, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Marvin Sapp, the Williams Brothers, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Audrey DuBois Harris, Alice McAllister Tillman, Edward Franklin, the Aretha Franklin Orchestra, and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir.
There's a slew of stars set to perform a free concert at Detroit's Chene Park Amphitheatre on Aug. 30, the day before the funeral. Gladys Knight, the Four Tops, Raheem DeVaughn, Angie Stone, Johnny Gill, and Detroit singer Kierra "Kiki" Sheard are some of the artists scheduled. It was also announced that Minister Louis Farrakhan will make an appearance. It will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Although it's free, it'll be a ticketed event. Hopeful attendees will be able to get tickets on Ticketmaster.com at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27. There will be a limit of two tickets per person. The site will also waive service fees "in honor of the Queen."
The funeral service will be held on Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. in the Queen of Soul's hometown, Detroit. Although the ceremony, happening at Greater Grace Temple, will be private, the Detroit Free Press reports there might be some public seating available as well. There will also be a public viewing ahead of the funeral on Aug. 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, then 12 p.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 30 at New Bethel Baptist Church.
