You know that thing elder politicians do where they use a modern pop culture reference to give the allusion of being far more progressive than they actually are? Yeah, well, that happened recently.

Following the well-earned viral status of Cardi B's recent video message about Trump's big dumb shutdown, Senator Brian Schatz decided to inadverently reveal his own innate lameness to us all by demonizing profanity. Still, the tweet was enough to spark a chain of events that eventually resulted in Chuck Schumer chiming in:

As for the video in question, it's quite good and should have just been retweeted by all of those guys immediately without any bizarre public debate. At one point in the video, Cardi noted the absurdity of Trump supporters who compare this shutdown to a previous one that occured during the Obama era over health care reform.

"Trump is now ordering [...] federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid," she said. "Now I don't wanna hear you mohterf**kas talkin' about, 'Oh, but Obama shut down the government for 17 days (sic).' Yeah, b**ch! For health care! So your grandma could check her blood pressure and you b***hes could go check your p***y at the gynecologist with no motherf**kin' problem."

Of course, a real leader would have no problem endorsing every letter of what Cardi B said in the video.
