More than 25 years after its initial release, Mariah Carey's ubiquitous holiday megaclassic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100.
Per the latest charts update, the 1994 song is now in the top spot for the first time, notably marking a holiday-related feat in which the track also becomes the first such release since "The Chipmunk Song" back in 1958/1959 to hold this position.
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" last peaked at No. 3 in 2018, having just one year earlier made its top 10 debut. Carey is now second only to the Beatles in terms of career No. 1 entries on the Hot 100.
The latest chart-shuffling also gives Carey the distinction of having No. 1 hits across three different decades: the '90s, 2000s, and 2010s. Others to have achieved such a feat in that trio of eras include Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Usher. For more stats on the track's No. 1 victory, look here.
The Queen of Christmas spoke with Complex for a very-worth-revisiting video interview earlier this month. During the conversation, the anniversary of Carey's Merry Christmas album was rightfully celebrated.
"I don't know what all these other people are doing with their Christmas albums," Carey said. "They're good but I'm really happy and proud of mine." Addressing the mindblowingly sustained popularity of "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Carey said she "can't even believe what it's done over the years."
The deluxe anniversary edition of Merry Christmas is out now. Amazon Music, meanwhile, recently released a mini-doc on the song itself fittingly titled Mariah Carey Is Christmas.
