The Tree of Life director Terrence Malick is executive producing a new documentary centered on the late emo rap innovator Lil Peep.
The documentary is mentioned briefly in a New York Times feature published Wednesday focusing on the upcoming Come Over When You're Sober Pt. 2 release. The feature pulls from interviews with collaborator Makonnen, producer Smokeasac, and Peep's mother Liza Womack and also includes this bit about the Malick doc:

The respectfully researched and well-penned Times piece mostly focuses on the contents of Peep's laptop, which—after Peep's death—was backed up by First Access Entertainment in London before Womack took it to an Apple store. Next month's Come Over When You're Sober Pt. 2 is "largely drawn" from the same collection of work that also birthed the original.
"I really feel like Gus was guiding me the entire way through," Smokeasac, who also helmed sessions for Pt. 1, said of next month's sequel. "I talked to him all the time. ... It's almost like he knew subconsciously that people are going to hear this after he passed." The current deal with Columbia, the article notes, is for three albums and will also include additional songs stemming from Peep's sessions with Makonnen in London.
