Makonnen is back.

Wednesday, the underrated sonic innovator hit fans with a fresh four-track project titled ILOVEAMERICA. Key!, with whom Makonnen previously collaborated on "Look at Wrist," has the EP's sole feature with "TWENTY'$ ON THA FLO." Stream all four new cuts below.

The latest Makonnen offering is a welcome surprise and arrives a full 10 months after his most recent drop, the Rae Sremmurd x Mike Will x Travis Barker collab "Love." At the time, Makonnen had also been teasing a seemingly imminent new project with Lil Peep, who died in November. "I'm never gonna be ok," Makonnen said of Peep's death. "I'll always love u, we became best friends and made some of the best music I have ever been apart of [sic]."

Speaking on the music they made together in an interview with Noisey conducted just weeks before Peep's death, Makonnen recalled the fellow innovator telling him that his music had saved his life. "That's what my mission was about," Makonnen said. "It wasn't about selling a hundred million records and getting all the Grammys. I just really wanted to be able to affect people and have them feel more positive. I wanted to water these plants of humans." That, he added, is why he frequently used to tweet about drinking more water.

At some point, Makonnen appears to have deactivated his Twitter account, using only Instagram as his method of dialing in to the universe. Prior to ILOVEAMERICA, his 'gram was filled with comments from fans wondering when to expect new music. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a new prolific era.
