Confusion is afoot after Dr. Dre called out a verified Instagram account for being "a complete fake" for claiming to belong to the "son of Dr. Dre."
Wednesday, Dre shared a pair of screenshots of Lou G.'s @jetpacknyc account alongside a warning message for fans. "This person is claiming to be the son of Dr. Dre," Dre, or whoever runs his social media, wrote. "He is not. He is a complete fake. There is no relation."
Prior to Dre's post, the @jetpacknyc account had just under 500,000 followers with just 24 posts. The most recent post appeared to have been taken at Asahd Khaled's recent birthday throwdown. The followers/following ratio was also quite 👌, as Lou. G only followed a meager 214 people. The @jetpacknyc handle now takes you to a private account with just over 3,300 followers.
However, as Uproxxpointed out Thursday, Dre may have made a mistake. Yo! MTV Raps historians will recall that the classic MTV series was co-hosted by Ed Lover and Doctor Dré for seven seasons starting in 1989. That's Doctor Dré, as in: not Dr. Dre. The @jetpacknyc account appeared to belong to someone based in New York City, which would make a bit more sense with regards to Dré, not Dre.
Dre hasn't commented further on whatever the hell is going on here. Hopefully this means he's busy helping Eminem prepare new Revival cuts for his upcoming Saturday Night Live performance. In fact, what if—*hits conspiracy theory blunt*—this whole Instagram confusion is somehow part of the Revival marketing campaign?
