Panic briefly ensued mere moments before midnight on New Year's Eve 2019 when Beyoncé shared a plain black image to her Instagram, a move some interpreted as signaling the surprise arrival of a new project of some sort. Shortly after the post, however, fans learned that the teasing post was instead part of the release strategy for a retrospective year-end clip.

Titled "Bey-Cap 2019," the short video gives fans a look back at the year in Beyoncé using a collection photos and footage chronicling the last 12 months. In the spirit of 2020 newness, enjoy the clip in full below via IG:

Beyoncé, who was recently named on Forbes' lists for the top earning musicians of 2019 and the decade, told Elle in December that she now has a different view on success.

"I learned that all pain and loss is in fact a gift," she said. "Having miscarriages taught me that I had to mother myself before I could be a mother to someone else. Then I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper. I died and was reborn in my relationship, and the quest for self became even stronger."

She also spoke on the inspiration behind her new Adidas Ivy Park collection, which launches later this month and includes a fresh take on the three-stripes aesthetic.
