Nicki Minaj has shed some light on how she goes about accepting feature requests from other artists.

The Queen took to her Twitter on May 2 after a fan asked what she does when an artist reaches out for a collaboration. According to Minaj, she takes her time before deciding as she doesn’t want to force her creativity.

“I sleep on it,” she tweeted. “For weeks usually. Sometimes months. Normally don’t play it after the first day. I let the universe decide. Then 1 day out of the blue I tell Juice to pull it up. That means it came back to me on its own.

That means it came back to me on its own. I lay a few references w/different flows, then sleep on it… https://t.co/6qHgtJlrwH

“I lay a few references w/different flows, then sleep on it some more. Then… boom! I’ve made a decision. Written & recorded. Then we wait…for the barbz to give the nod of approval I guess.”

The Queen rapper’s feature catalog is just as prolific as her solo output. Since she’s been in the game, Nicki Minaj has teamed up with the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake, DJ Khaled, Pop Smoke, Doja Cat, Young Thug, Post Malone, and more.

One of Nicki’s latest features arrived in April when she joined forces with The Bronx sensation Ice Spice on the remix to “Princess Diana.” The duo directed by Edgar Esteves, and has them rapping in a pink-hued bedroom.

The record has been a success as it outsold the entire Top 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. According to Billboard, “Princess Diana” has been downloaded 77,000 times, which is the best sales week for any rap song since Nicki Minaj dropped “Super Freaky Girl” in 2022.

The single has also allowed Ice Spice to grab her first No. 1 Hot Rap Song after appearing on the charts four previous times. As for Nicki, she became the rapper with the most No.1 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart. Her 14th entry had her leap over Drizzy’s 13 No.1s.  As a result, Nicki also extends her record as the female rapper with the most Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 chart.
