Deyra Barrera, the mariachi singer featured on Kendrick Lamar's "wacced out murals" on GNX, recently sang in front of a mural dedicated to the rapper.
On Wednesday, Barrera shared an Instagram post showing her visiting the viral "They Not Like Us" mural of Lamar in Los Angeles and meeting Mike Norice, the artist who made the piece.
Barrera can be seen observing the mural alongside Norice, who says in a voiceover how important the moment was for Compton culture.
Later in the video, Barrera sings her part on the song in front of the mural. The whole moment appears to be for an upcoming episode of a show set to air sometime soon.
"Thank you for the invitation of this amazing mural of one of the greatest rap icons! I am very grateful I was able to be part of this event," Barrera captioned her post.
On "wacced out murals," Barrera sings in Spanish, "I felt your presence here last night, and we started to cry." The record was a hit among fans on social media, and people wanted to find out more about the singer.
Barrera is from Tucson, Arizona. Lamar discovered her singing talents when he attended Game 1 of the World Series, during which the Dodgers had invited Barrera to perform a tribute for late baseball legend Fernando Valenzuela.
K.Dot then invited her to record in the studio, and her vocals ended up GNX tracks "wacced out murals,""reincarnated," and the SZA-assisted "gloria."
