US Border Patrol detained Afroman and his crew after they tried to enter the US via the St. Lawrence River.

According to TMZ, the "Because I Got High" rapper tried to cross the border with small quantities of cannabis and approximately $10,000 in cash.

Afroman confirmed to TMZ that he was headed to New York for a gig when he was stopped because he had forgotten to get rid of a bottle of cannabis pain lotion.

The rapper was in custody for 5 hours and was fined $500 for the lotion while his DJ was fined $500 for possessing cannabis gummies.

Despite the fines, no one was arrested. Border officials seized the cannabis, but the $10,000 was declared.

US Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Mike Niezgoda told TMZ that "As a matter of policy under the Privacy Act of 1974, we are unable to discuss a traveler's inspection."
