Canadian rapper and TikTok star Dax unleashed his new video for his song “PTSD” yesterday, a song and video the 28-year-old called “20+ years in the making.”

The visual has already struck a chord with audiences, hitting over 220K views on YouTube in one day since going live.

The song sees the St. John’s native, who grew up in Ottawa, recounting a traumatizing moment in his life while also showing compassion for others who may have faced similar situations. Dax is introspective on the track, opting to sing his verses instead of bluntly rapping like he’s done on his past songs and albums.

“PTSD” follows Dax’s trend of touching on difficult subject matters, attempting to make it easier for his listeners to find solace in the fact that so many other people face the same problems they are going through.

“This one is inspired by real life events,” Dax wrote on Twitter. “I’m praying it reaches those who need it.”
