Nor is it a place to air out relationship problems—or disclose the exact pound weight of your most recent marijuana purchase. And while we know your fans are important to you, retweeting them constantly just makes us want to unfollow. But it's cool. We're here to help. Posting Self-Incriminating Photos
We've seen drugs before. We know you probably smoke weed—it's a hot topic in hip-hop. We get that Molly is very in this year. But posting photos of illegal things all day everyday and then being surprised when cops jump at the opportunity to make an example of you and randomly show up knocking at your tour bus is backwards logic.
Typing in All Caps
OH, YOU WERE JUST TRYING TO GET OUR ATTENTION? WELL, SO ARE WE RIGHT NOW BUT THINK ABOUT HOW RIDICULOUS THIS LOOKS.
Making Bad Spelling and Grammar Mistakes
We just don't get these mistakes sometimes. Typos happen. Accidentally spelling "outfit" as, say, "outfig" would make sense. But at what point in reaching for the "o" on your keyboard do you wind up on the "a," typing "alphet"? Help us understand.
Retweeting Every Compliment
You're famous and you have fans. Noted. But we're following you for your own thoughts, not a cluttered timeline of people professing their love for you.
Beefing
One of the biggest hip-hop trends of last year was unnecessary Twitter beef. It makes for an entertaining read in between refreshing Instagram likes, but ultimately, screengrabs are forever and everyone tends to look back on the exchange as relatively stupid (including the rappers themselves because there's about a 70% chance they'll later delete the tweets). Dissing is a part of rap, but let's stick to tracks.
Moonlighting As Motivational Speakers
People hate seeing you succeed, right? Well, fuck them because failure is not an option. And, damn, that Anaïs Nin quote is DEEP. Our day is going to be such much less shitty because of the 140 character enlightenment. Not.
Airing Out Relationship Drama
This really goes for anyone, but, you know, tweeting about really sensitive, heavy, personal issues often has a less desirable impact when you have a few million followers. We love the depressing music, but the depressing tweets are tough to witness.
Posting Relentless Promo
We understand that it's because of this stringent behavior that 50 Cent is much more successful and rich than any of us will ever be. Same for Diddy. One of his tweets is probably the reason why some kid will have Ciroc at his apartment party this weekend. Get that $$$, but all the promo plugs still look crazy.
