It's a hectic time for music sharing and in the latest fit of news, another service bites the dust. Described as the largest U.S.-based music piracy site, Sharebeast has been shut down by the Department of Justice for distributing "a massive library of popular albums and tracks." "This domain name has been seized by the FBI," reads the Anti-Piracy warning on Sharebeast.com's homepage as well as it's sister site albumjams.com.
In a news release, RIAA chairman and CEO Cary Sherman calls the shutdown a "huge win for the community" adding that "Sharebeast operated with flagrant disregard for the rights of artists and labels while undermining the legal marketplace." While Music execs alike are celebrating, Twitter users have shared their condolences for one of the more favored sharing services of the last decade:
