Just last month, Leicester rap queen Trillary Banks dropped off her 90s Baby mixtape, a 16-track collection that summoned all sorts of cultural signs and signifiers and spliced them into the 21st century UK rap blueprint.
There were a few different references dotted through the project, including one track that took its whole name from Sisqo’s signature hit, and then there’s “Nas Film” (titled just “Film” on the actual tape), a New York-inspired team-up built around a sample from Ultra Nate’s “Free” with some scorching verses from Luton’s Dibo Brown and Nottingham’s Pariz1.
