“It’s just mad that we’re here again, innit.”

It’s been a long time coming, but the arrival of the new series of Top Boy is almost upon us. The last season, having been revived by Netflix, finished all the way back in 2019. Although a new series was commissioned almost immediately, a two-year pandemic and a raft of lockdown restrictions kept things moving at a snail’s pace, if at all.

Thankfully, they’ve overcome all of that and the series’ return was officially announced was announced a few weeks ago with a giant billboard campaign across London. Now, as we draw agonisingly close to the big day, Netflix has just dropped the first official trailer.

Although the last season wrapped a lot of things up—Dushane’s fight to get his old life back and Michael’s various turf wars—there were still a few questions left hanging and a tonne of new avenues to explore. Naturally, the plot’s being kept under wraps, but there have been a few clues on the official Top Boy Instagram account, namely the ominous tagline “loyalty over everything”.

Stars Ashley Walters, Kano, Michael Ward, Little Simz, Jasmine Jobson, Hope Ikpoku Jr., Jolade Obasola, Kadeem Ramsay, Saffron Hocking, and Araloyin Oshunremi will be returning and there’s a few new faces joining the ranks. Adwoa Aboah joins the cast as new character Becks, Erin Kellyman plays a character referred to as Pebbles, and Nolay will be playing Mandy, a character who appears to have existing connections to some of the cast.

The new batch of episodes arrives March 18.
