Back in August, the world got introduced to a compelling new talent named tendai, the latest signee to 0207 Def Jam, who made his debut with “Not Around”.
Arriving to the label alongside British rap heavyweights Potter Payper and Stormzy and soul singer Debbie, tendai turned heads for his markedly different sound, a haunting take on R&B, and today we get the next step in his long game with new single “Infinite Straight”. That spectral quality that made “Not Around” so striking is still a central element, but there’s an almost alt-rock edge to this one, pairing tendai’s raspy, pained vocals with a searing guitar melody.
