Derby-born and now based in London, rising singer-songwriter Oliver Keane made his debut last year with two singles, “In The Morning” and “Fall Down”, and now he’s back with new single “3am”. These, he promises, are just the tip of the iceberg and that he’s sitting on “thousands of songs,” adding, “I can’t remember the last time I went without making music”.
“3am” taps into the frustratingly familiar experience of those late night calls from an ex you can’t quite shake. Wrestling with the impact of those late night (or early morning, depending on your perspective) calls and the disruption it throws into the process of moving on and finding closure, all that tension and angst is writ large in his pained vocals and the distorted, driving guitar riffs.
The track itself dropped last Friday, January 14, and today we get the visuals. Filmed largely at night, Keane is the sole star of the show, blanketed in darkness and then filmed in the back of a van, jolted and bashed from wall to wall and left, just as with those unwanted calls, feeling disoriented and thrown through the ringer.
