Premiere: Ojerime Returns With Candid Exploration Of Her Personal Struggles On "Empty"

After taking a brief hiatus from the music game to focus on her mental health, Ojerime is making a grand and poignant return with her new experimental R&B cut "Empty", a candid self-examination of the last 12 months of her life and the personal battles she's fought. Over a bed of rolling 808s and jazzy guitar licks, Ojerime employs her effortlessly cool vocal style to dig deep into her experiences grappling with issues like sexuality, depression and identity. 

The new single is taken from her impending mixtape and, like the new single, the rest of the project promises the same level of fearless introspection. While we can't speak on the rest of the tape, "Empty" alone is such a cathartic experience for both listener and artist alike you can almost hear the weight being lifted from her shoulders as she lays it all out, warts and all.

Speaking with Complex via email, Ojerime said: "'Empty' is a freestyle about being drained in every area of life, from friendships, career and love life. I offload all of this in a convoluted way because I'm going through so many emotions when writing this. The lyrics are relatable but the overall message is quite cryptic and personal to me."
