After making her debut in 2018 with "Longing", singer-songwriter Lizzi is back with her new single "Try" as well as news of the imminent arrival her debut EP, After Hours. Born in Houston, Texas but now based in East London, the last few years have seen Lizzi work tirelessly on her appealingly dreamy brand of pop music and "Try" is the first taste of that.

Besides working on her creative output, she's also been on a journey of self-discovery within her personal life. "Try", as she explains below, packs a cathartic punch as she works through a particularly hurtful break-up. A picture of strength, that only seems to have emboldened her drive to create. Put together on a shoestring, she directed and edited the visuals herself with her sister behind the camera. Impressively, rather than appear as if anything's lacking, it actually gives it an almost home video-style aesthetic, only amplifying the track's intimate quality.

Speaking with Complex via email, Lizzi told us: "'Try' was written in a really uncertain head space in my last relationship when I didn't know which way things would go after a betrayal. It's about trying to push through something instead of throwing it away. I directed and edited the visual for 'Try' which was shot between Seven Sisters Cliffs and London. I am broke so I had no budget for the music video so my sister shot it on my cameras. I'm obsessed with the colours of the sky at sunset so I wanted to capture that as I think it fits the mood of the track."

"Try" is taken from her debut EP After Hours, which is due April 2020.
