Having made his name in the Manchester rap scene with the Meditape projects a few years back, Abnormal Sleepz has spent the intervening years dropping a consistent string of singles. Now he's back once more with singer and producer HMD to drop "Textures"—and there's a fresh visual to go with it.
The video, created by Karl John and Blackstone Visuals, follows Abnormal Sleepz and HMD through the smoke-filled streets of Manchester as they lay out their chilled, yet self-assured rhymes over the breezy, melodic beat. Heavily inspired by the Windrush Generation that came to the UK in the post-war period, the video pays tribute to the era, with both artists decked-out in sharp suits and a vintage car to flex in.
"Textures" is taken from Abnormal Sleepz's upcoming album, Kaleidoscope (due out Sept. 6), making it the first hip-hop album to be signed to The North Quarter, the Amsterdam-based label from D&B producer Lenzman.
