At the end of last month, Manchester soul star Pip Millett rang in the new year with a new single, “Eating Out”, a collab with Grammy-winner Rae Khalil that also brought news that a new project would be forthcoming. That day has arrived and with it, her new EP, Tell Jimmy.
The new five-track project, which also features Maverick Sabre and Linden Jay, is her first new collection since she planted her flag with her critically celebrated debut album, 2022’s When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know.
It’s no coincidence that the new EP should land the same week as Valentine’s Day. Despite the velvety, seductive textures on the set as a whole, with lines like “I’m so tired of thinking about you” and titles like “Fight You”, this is more of a tonic for spurned lovers licking their wounds.
