D Double E’s 2010-released “Street Fighter Riddim” is etched into the very foundations of grime, but it’s far from the only game he loves. The Newham General has now returned with an ode to another of his favourite martial arts games, this time teaming up with Fumez The Engineer for “Tekken 8 (The Anthem)”.

The new track is part of the launch of the new Tekken 8 game and comes packaged with a new video and some crisp animated artwork from Yobs.

Etim Essien directs the video, putting D Double in a studio setting that recreates a lot of the straight-to-camera, on-mic fury of Fumez’s long-running series.

“Anyone who listens to my music knows I love fighting games,” says D Double E, “so it just made sense to make a Tekken track that hits like a Mishima dragon uppercut.”

D Double is no stranger to collaboration. The grime legend’s most recent project, No Reign, No Flowers, saw him collab with the likes of Ghetts, Danny Brown and Hamzaa for what could go down as one of his finest drops yet.
