Chip is back!

Last week, the grime/rap veteran made an appearance on Devlin’s latest, “Don’t Try It”, before treating lucky punters at Rinse FM’s I Love Grime event at Ministry Of Sound to a triumphant barring session alongside a who’s who of grime greats, and then, this week, he took to Instagram to address his fans about his absence and announce the imminent arrival of new music.

According to the video below, there’s a new project on the way, but ahead of that, Chip has just dropped off the video for its lead single, “Tekky”, which features Krept, Frisco and K-Trap, each representing a different era and style. Legendary music video director Carly Cussen keeps things relatively straightforward in the video: one mic, four MCs, each opting for sharp, punchy flows to match the pounding, drum-heavy beat from SplurgeBoys.

Speaking about the track, Chip says: “After a two-year break, it feels good to be back. Big up Krept, Fris and Trapo for coming through on this one for me. I love this song. I don’t think anyone would expect to hear us all on a track together and that’s what makes it even better. I tried to pick a line-up that merges a few diff eras of bars and styles and sound. Tekky!”

There aren’t too many details about the project, so for now, tap into the new video up top and be sure to add “Tekky” to your playlists.
