Wale went throwback with his latest cut, "09 Folarin."
Like his other recent drops, Wale used Twitter to announce the upcoming song the day before it dropped.
The beat mimics the live instrumentation sounds found on his early mixtapes. While this might quench the thirst of those hoping he'd return to the "Old Wale," the rapper cleverly reminds them that he's never left ("I chase profit, you say my name they change topics/So don't start if you can't back up like Blaine Gabbert"). Wale also fits in references to his December 2014/January 2015 Complex cover, as well as his since-resolved spat with Kid Cudi that took place in 2010 after Cudi's Complex cover comments
