The legendary producer and Miami-based entrepreneur, David Grutman, have come together to create The Goodtime on Washington Ave in South Beach. During a recent interview with Ocean Drive, the pair revealed that tourists can now book rooms at the hotel which is set to open in April. The rooms start at $260 a night and can be booked on the hotel’s website.
“The Goodtime will light up this community,” the super-producer said. “People are going to be inspired by what we’re doing here. It will be good energy, good vibrations, good space, and, of course, a good time.”
The hotel has been in the works for three years. Yet, like nearly everything, the process was slowed due to COVID-19. Grutman explained to Ocean Drive that he and Pharrell came up with the concept for the hotel as part of their mission to revamp the community. This mission is mirrored by the establishment’s name.
“Pharrell said to me, ‘I think we should name it The Goodtime as one word—and really change the narrative,” Grutman said. “That’s been our whole vision for everything we’re doing. [In recent years], Washington Avenue has not been thought of as the star. We want to change that—this won’t be a place to just lay your head.”
The Goodtime isn’t the only business venture Pharrell and Grutman have put together. The pair are also partners in Swan Miami. This dining experience is located in Miami’s design district and has been open since 2018.
