Mustafa has returned with new single and video "Name of God," his first new solo music since 2021's acclaimed When Smoke Rises.

This comes after he teased the new clip last week and revaled it's the first new track from his upcoming solo debut album, which as of yet doesn't have a release date.

"Name of God" was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, Simon Hessman, and Mustafa, while the video, also directed by Mustafa, delves into his relationship with Islam and is a memorial to Mustafa's late brother Mohamed, who was killed this summer.

"All this loss all this loss, let us carry it well- in His name, in whatever way we must, directed by me with spiritual assistance," he said on his Instagram page to coincide with the launch,

He also provided an explanation for the track on his Instagram page:

"When my big brother was killed in what will always feel like yesterday, knowing the suspected murderer was someone he held as a friend, someone he prayed with- it led me to believe that maybe his love was his end? Maybe where there is no love, parting from love keeps us alive? Maybe ending in love is the only way to actually begin? I don't know. The only clear memory from the days of his death were my parents reciting in unison, "oh Allah, we accept his passing, we accept what you ordained."

While Mustafa hasn't dropped solo music in a while, he contributed to the most recent Daniel Caesar and Metro Boomin records. He also joined Caesar on stage in Toronto last week on Caesar's Superpowers Tour hometown show.

His track with Boomin and 21 Savage, "Walk Em Down (Don't Kill Civilians)" earned Mustafa his first Hot 100-charting song.
