Lil Durk on Remixing Logic's "1-800-273-8255": 'No Disrespect to the Suicide People I Was Talking to the Trenches'
Lil Durk clarifies his intentions behind remaking Logic's "1-800-273-8255."
Lil Durk released a remix to Logicās suicide prevention song ā1-800-273-8255ā on Thursday. Since dropping ā1 (773) Vulture,ā a song that deals with Durkās relationship with the street life and the dangers heās faced, he is getting criticism for his lyrics.
Some people think heās disrespecting suicide victims and survivors by talking about homicide. In his Auto-Tune croon, the Chicago rapper sings lyrics such as āteachers said I might be dead cause I love the streetsā and āI aināt really trying to die today.ā He adds another unsettling image with this line: āMy momma had a dream about me dying / I told her I hope she lying.ā
To clarify his intentions, he shared this message on Twitter:
No disrespect to the suicide people i was talking to the trenches #1773vulture
I just want a good vibe tonight
The reactions to Durkās song have swayed on both sides. Overall, his fans seem to agree that he and Logic have entirely two different songs.
"Fuck W/ Durk and they dying today...facts, They told me they sick and tired They don't wanna die today, Whatever my niggas be wantin know I got em, I be off them drugs addicted to narcotics" #1773vulture @lildurk š„š„š

Logic helped to propel his song to the mainstream when he performed it at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards alongside featured guests Alessia Cara, Khalid, and 50 suicide-attempt survivors.
Ā āIām not the first person to talk about [mental health]. ButĀ nobody has been able to do it on such a mainstream, in-your-face level. Iām happy I can be that guy,ā Logic told Billboard.
As for Durk, the remix serves as an official teaser for his upcoming project, Signed to the Streets 3, which is slated for 2018.
