Back in August, HAIM announced that they would be joining the ranks of Dr. Dre,Pharrelland more who have their own show on Beats 1 Radio. Last night, the sisters premiered their first episode featuring a Battle of the Birth Year competition and special guests, their parents Donna and Moti Haim.
Here’s their brief explanation of the show: “We are going to battle on our show, which means we are each going to play songs and at the end of the show, we’re going to have a special guest that comes in and chooses who picked the best songs,” Alana said.
“Every show that we do, there’s going to be a specific theme. So every show is different. Different songs every show. Different themes every show, and also when we’re feeling saucy, we’re going to pick fan favorites,” Este adds.
So, Este, Danielle, and Alana share their top picks for their birth year, which are 1986, 1989, and 1991, respectively. We get to hear a mix ranging from Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way It Is” and Peter Gabriel’s “So” to Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” and Madonna's "Like a Prayer." They include their "crown jewels" for their years that are pretty indisputable. With stories from their childhood mixed in, it’s a cool way to get to know the Haim sisters a little better.
