Stephen A. Smith has chosen a side.
In a preview for an upcoming episode of Drink Champs, N.O.R.E. asked the sports radio host if he'd pick Kendrick Lamar or Drake in the rap beef to end all rap beefs.
βFirst of all, major props to both of them,β Smith said. βIβm gonna go with Drake because even though everybody knows Kendrick Lamar and knows how gifted he is, you got too many people periodically trying to come at Drake and heβs always standing.β
Smith continued, βI mean, heβs one of those dudes. It could be the look, it could be how he communicates, it could be his flavorβit could be anything. But Drake damn near seems impenetrable, and what I take from Drake is, I donβt hear too many people coming at Kendrick Lamar.β
It looks like, at the end of the day, Smith made his choice because he sympathizes with Drakeβs plight. βBut everybody always trying to come at Drake, and, obviously, I can relate to that,β Smith added.
Drake hasnβt yet responded to Lamarβs fiery verse on Future and Metro Boominβs No. 1 hit βLike That.β Conversely, J. Cole did respond on his diss track β7 Minute Drill,β where he slammed Kennyβs catalog. The internet erupted after Cole swiftly apologized over the weekend at Dreamville Festival, calling his track one of the βlamestβ things heβs done.
Drake allegedly acknowledged Coleβs apology in a conversation with DJ Akademiks. During a stream, Ak said Drizzy laughed off the idea that he himself would follow Cole's lead. βI can't fucking believe you would pull up and say some shit like that to me, you must not know me," he allegedly told Ak.
