Malik Yusef Says New Kanye Album Is 'Our Best Sh*t 2 Date'

G.O.O.D. Music affiliate Malik Yusef has been fairly vocal over the last month about Kanye West’s comments on Donald Trump and slavery.

Now, the day before Kanye’s album Love Everyone is set to release, Yusef has taken to Twitter to proclaim that the forthcoming project is “Our best shit 2 date,” when responding to user @hiphopbaby21 who asked, “@malikyusef are you currently in Wyoming? Can’t wait to hear Ye’s album!!!”

In April Yusef sat down with AllHipHop and attempted to explain Kanye's comments on Trump, where Ye expressed his “love” for the president. Yusef immediately called Kanye an “enigmatic creature,” and then explained Kanye is “an amalgamation of a bunch of peoples in his life. The influences of his father, his mother.”

Then, about a week later, Yusef returned to try and explain Kanye's controversial “slavery is a choice” comment. During an interview with TMZ, Yusef said Ye's comments “hurt.” He continued, “The needed depth for that conversation was not the form for that,” adding that the remark was an oversimplification with some truth.

Before Rhymefest made claims on social media that Kanye had abandoned his charity Donda's House, Kanye reportedly was set to launch Donda Social, which aims to fight for social change in Chicago. Ye had allegedly called on artists like Yusef, Common, Vic Mensa, and Chance the Rapper to help out. 

A Chicago native himself, and a spoken word poet and 24-time Grammy nominee, Yusef has worked on a number of Kanye’s albums, and won Grammy Awards for his contributions to 2005's Late Registration, 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the MBDTF single “All of the Lights,” and '16's The Life of Pablo. Yusef has also won Grammys for his work on John Legend and the Roots' 2010 album Wake Up! and Beyonce’s 2016 record Lemonade. He's closely collaborated with fellow Chicagoans Common and Mensa, too.
