Directed by Michael D. Ratner, the 94-minute film will follow Bieber in the weeks leading up to his New Year’s Eve 2020 performance atop the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The music event, which marked the singer’s first full concert after three years, went down in front of 240 in-person guests and was livestreamed by millions of fans across the globe.
“Performing live and connecting with my fans through music is deeply meaningful to me. Especially during the past year, being able to provide a service and share my gifts to bring some happiness to people during such a sad and scary time has meant the world to me,” Bieber said in a statement earlier this month. “This film documents an intense and exciting time, preparing for a return to the stage during this season of real uncertainty. Coming together with my team, overcoming the obstacles, and delivering a special show, surrounded by friends and family; it’s all here.”
Our World includes rehearsal footage, self-shot videos, as well as appearances by the Biebs’ team, friends, and family, including his wife, Hailey Bieber.
This is far from the first time Ratner has worked with Grammy-winning artist, who recently broke Spotify’s all-time record for most monthly listeners. Ratner previously helmed the YouTube docuseries Justin Bieber: Seasons and its follow-up Next Chapter. The award-winning filmmaker also directed the videos for Bieber’s “E.T.A. (Nature Version)” cut and the “Intentions” track featuring Quavo.
