Kevin Hart isn't making any apologies for his baby son's birthday party.
About one week ago, the comedian and his wife, Eniko Hart, celebrated their child's first birthday with a "cowboys and Indians" theme. Eniko posted several photos of the day on Instagram, showing their friends and family wrapped in Native America-inspired tribal print blankets. Immediately after the pictures went up, the Harts were slammed with criticism from those who considered the theme for "culturally insensitive."
So, what does Kevin think about all the backlash? He referred to it as "dumb shit."
The comedian addressed the controversy Wednesday during his SiriusXM show, Straight From the Hart. He insisted people were overreacting and that the outrage proved "how stupid our world is becoming."
"Keep in mind, the same day the Cowboys played the Redskins on TV. It's a very known fact!" Hart said, referring to the teams' Thanksgiving game.
"The reason why I'm even bringing this dumb shit up is because it shows just how stupid our world is becoming with opinions," Kevin continued. "People are at a point of an all-time high. To throw racial judgment into the development of a one-year-old's birthday party where the theme is cowboys and Indians? It's based around the outfits that are given to the young kids!"
Kevin went on to say that "cowboys and Indians" were part of American culture, so much so that he and his friends would often play "cowboys and Indians" as children. One of the co-hosts then asked Kevin if he would be offended by a "slave owner and a slave party." Kevin suggested it wouldn't faze him.
"If you don't think there's neighborhoods where they play that game in certain white neighborhoods, then you're a fucking idiot," he responded. "You don't think they had dumbass games like that? As a kid, do we play cops and robbers? As a kid, did you play cowboys and Indians? When you were a child, if you go to stores, you go to look at paraphernalia. To be a cowboy, you're buying boots, you're buying a gun, you're buying a hat. Some even had a lasso."
