At this point, Maxwell is a veteran of the music industry. The 20th anniversary of his album Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite just passed, and it's been seven years since his last album BLACKsummers'night. Now, he has returned with his new single "Lake By the Ocean."
"The song is about a vast, unfettered love deeply connected to the intimacy one is able to share with another after a time of great struggle and betrayal," he said in a press release. "It's an expression of the cleansing and escape, a washing away of the past and joining forces in love with the beauty of romance, nature and the earth."
"Lake By the Ocean" will serve as the lead single for Maxwell's upcoming album blackSUMMERS'night, the sequel to his 2009 album and the second installment in a 3-part trilogy. The album is set to come out July 1, twenty years after he originally wowed us with Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. He will also be announcing a tour on April 11.
