Fresh off joining forces with Steve Lacy for her latest single “Skin Tight,” Chicago-born R&B singer Ravyn Lenae returns with “Light Me Up.”

The ballad arrives alongside an Aliyah Otchere-directed video that sees Lenae singing to her lover in a candlelit room.

“‘Light Me Up’ is about exploring the unknown with a new love; leaning into those tingly feelings while letting your guards down,” Lenae explained in a press release. “This song highlights the beauty of allowing someone to truly see through you.”

The release arrives just over a month after Lenae tapped Steve Lacy for “Skin Tight.” The February track marked the first song Lenae had released since 2020, when she appeared on the Season 4 soundtrack of Insecure with “Rewind.”

“I wanted to snap people into my world through the sonics, so they can feel how I’ve felt over the past couple of years,” Lenae said about “Skin Tight.” “It has those hypnotic elements, but it’s very simple, familiar, and fresh. Thematically, it’s about not being in a relationship with somebody, but still having those physical and mental ties. It speaks to sharing kinetic energy with another person, even if time has passed and you aren’t together anymore.”
