While chatting with HipHopDX at at Ice Cube’s Big 3 league championship this weekend, Jadakiss revealed how The Lox ended up on Kanye West’s new album Donda.

Just a day after the Bad Boy-turned-Ruff Ryders crew went hit-for-hit with Harlem’s Diplomats in a Verzuz battle at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 3, The Lox were summoned to Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where Kanye was putting the finishing touches on his latest full-length offering.

“Someone from ‘Ye’s camp actually reached out to my older son,” Jadakiss explained. “Then ‘Ye called us the next day after Verzuz, he hit me the next morning. We flew straight there and went straight to the studio and knocked the song out. Then went and rested and came back the next day and went to the event and flew back.”

“It was ill,” Jada said about Kanye’s Aug. 6 Donda listening event. “It was a different experience for us, but it was super dope.”

Alongside fellow guest artists Jay Electronica and Larry Hoover Jr., Jada, Sheek Louch, and Styles P appeared on Donda’s closing track, “Jesus Lord Pt. 2.”

With no disrespect to Styles P and Sheek, Jada delivers the song’s best verse: “Viral pictures, Bible scriptures / One thing ‘bout the devil, he’s liable to get you / Long as my good days outweigh my bad days / I don’t count the money, I just know how much the bag weighs / Broke down soon as I seen him bring the coffin in / Lord knows, I just really wanna see you walk again / Million dollars cashiers check to the offerin’ / They can talk about me all they want, I’ma talk to Him,” he raps on the song’s fourth verse.

Stream “Jesus Lord, Pt. 2” now on all major platforms.
