British producer SBTRKT has shared his dreamy new track “Forward,” which was first previewed in Drake and 21 Savage’s “Jimmy Cooks” music video.
SBTRKT returned earlier this year with “Bodmin Moor” and now he’s gearing up to release his long-awaited third studio album next year. “Forward” featuring Leilah is set to appear on that record, and it wasn’t intended to be a single until its appearance in Drizzy and 21’s video saw fans call for its release.
"I've always viewed this song as more of an album track than what I might consider a single, so it’s great to see that it has resonated so widely," added SBTRKT of the track. “Forward” served as the backing music to the announcement of the two rapper’s collaborative album, Her Loss. At the time, the snippet was unidentified. All the way back in 2011, Drake remixed SBTRKT and Little Dragon’s “Wildfire,” so it’s not the first time the OVO Sound founder has shown love to the enigmatic producer.
SBTRKT didn’t drop any music between 2017 to 2021, but that all changed with the arrival of “Bodmin Moor.” Before the arrival of “Forward,” he also shared “Miss The Days” and “Ghost,” another collaboration with Leilah. His upcoming third album doesn’t have a title or release date yet, but fans can rest assured that it’ll be drop at some point next year.
