Conway The Machine spoke on Benny The Butcher and Freddie Gibbs’ beef, expressing his desire to squash the issues between the two rappers.
“It’s a fucked up situation for me, personally, man,” Conway told DJ Akademiks when the topic of the beef was brought up during a recent interview. "That n***a Gibbs my n***a, man. I wish that shit never happened. … I would love to squash that. I wish I could have. If I was there, I don’t know if that would’ve happened. I’m talking about none of it, not just the shit that they talking about. I’m talking about the shit that [came] before.”
Last year, Gibbs and Benny got into it online when they traded shots over social media. The situation appeared to boil over into real life when Gibbs was seemingly filmed getting assaulted in Buffalo, New York. While it was never confirmed if Benny was involved in the alleged assault, the two have made passing references to the incident ever since.
“I just wish that shit never happened, man. Gibbs, I just know how he do, man. He’s a funny dude on that internet shit and on Twitter and stuff,” Conway continued. “He was wrong, I’ve spoke with people. But I don’t wanna say too much, man. Gibbs my n***a regardless. I don’t give a fuck. And Benny my cousin, I’m riding with Benny regardless of whatever happens. But if it was up to me, none of that shit would’ve never happened. None of it.”
Video of the alleged incident was taken by a bystander at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurant, which Gibbs visited before his show in Buffalo. Conway suggested that he had no idea there were issues between Gibbs and Benny until the video appeared to show how serious their beef had become. “I would’ve dead that, at least attempted to,” Conway said. “At the end of the day, they’re grown men and they’re gonna have their differences or whatever they feel. I had no clue it was any smoke or any weird shit, bruh. I fuck with Gibbs and I love Buzz dearly. … I would’ve been like, ‘Y’all n****s tweaking, bruh.’”
