Friends and industry peers alike have been paying tribute to Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, who the band announced had died this week at age 50 following reported “chest pains.”

Among the most emotional tributes pouring in for Hawkins, Miley Cyrus toasted her late friend on Saturday during her gig at Lollapalooza Brazil. Cyrus had already revealed earlier in the day that she’d pay tribute to the drummer, who she called on Twitter “the most bad ass dude I know who would want me to shine and sing LOUD for the love of rock n roll!”

Tonights show is in honor of my friend Taylor Hawkins. The most bad ass dude I know who would want me to shine and sing LOUD for the love of rock n roll! I’ve got this with a little help from my friend TH above & all of you. Let’s do it . 🦅🖤🤘🏻

As Miley revealed during the set, she was close with the Foo Fighters member, and he was actually the first person she called following a highly publicized emergency plane landing last week.

“He was already at the festival and that would have been a time that I would have gotten to see my friend and I didn’t,” Cyrus said. “I would have done anything to hang out with him one more time.”

With an enormous image of Hawkins backing her, Cyrus and her band then proceeded to play through Plastic Hearts cut “Angels Like You,” and it was an emotional performance. Fans kept their lighters in the air as Cyrus sat in a center-stage chair, with tears in her eyes at times.

“I know that any time that I get onstage and any time that I get to play with my band — which if anything ever fucking happened to any one of them it would fucking kill me,” Cyrus continued. “So I couldn’t imagine how the Foo Fighters felt today.”

I was doing a minimal amount of live shows this year & wanted the MAXIMUM amount of fans to experience ME LIVE! This album wouldn’t be possible without my band & crew! Thank you to everyone who came to see my show & anyone who couldn’t make it THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU! I LOVE YOU!🖤 pic.twitter.com/r6y4XwCaDw

While “Angels Like You” is not set to be featured on it, Miley announced a new live album this week, titled Attention. The record, arriving April 1, features classics like “The Climb” and “Party in the USA,” as well as some covers like “Heart of Glass.” She also shared the video for “Attention” this weekend, which is executive produced by Kevin Abstract.
