Lil Nas X live for ACL fest lineup story

Everything is bigger in Texas, a fact this year’s Austin City Limits lineup certainly reflects.

The 2022 festival—taking place over 2 weekends from Oct. 7-9 and Oct. 14-16 at Zilker Park in Austin—boasts a wide range of headliners, including Lil Nas X, SZA, Flume, Kacey Musgraves, Paramore, the Chicks, Pink, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The ACL roster also features Lil Durk, Jazmine Sullivan, Bia, James Blake, Lucky Daye, Omar Apollo, Sabrina Claudio, PinkPantheress, Teezo Touchdown, Tobe Nwigwe, Carly Rae Jepsen, Muna, and plenty more, the fest announced Tuesday.

The event’s three-day tickets go on sale Tuesday at 12 p.m CT and start at $295

ACL appears to be one of Lil Nas’ first major headlining shows at a festival of this size, and he’ll also hit the road for his first-ever headlining jaunt just before that. The Long Live Montero Tour features 21 dates across the U.S. and beyond, with the internet-dominating musician and Grammy winner taking the show to Germany, the U.K., and Spain.

In 2021, headliners for Austin City Limits included Billie Eilish, DaBaby, Erykah Badu, and Miley Cyrus, while additional performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow, and more rounded out the fest. It was at that stage where Eilish blasted a then-new law in the state, which effectively banned all abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

“When they made that shit a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show, because I wanted to punish this fucking place for allowing that to happen here, but then I remembered that it’s you guys that are the fucking victims,” the pop superstar said. “And you deserve everything in the world.”
